On the Cheap - Free ATM Network
Where do you go to withdraw money from your checking account? If you have traditional work hours, stopping off at the local branch to avoid paying an ATM fee is nearly impossible. The convenience of ATMs has certainly made access to your money easier and more available. Typically, with convenience comes cost. Most ATM providers have mastered providing this convenience for a fee. Others have found a more interesting way to generate revenue.
Obviously, your bank provides this convenience as a service to their customers. Others provide fee-less ATMs with the hope that you will frequent them because of it. It has worked on me. I have found two rather extensive networks that I use, and I am more likely to choose those alternatives when I can.
At Publix, a regional super market I have mentioned before, they have the Presto! network. Also, RaceTrac offers fee-free ATMs at all of their corporate-run locations. Be very careful with this one though, there are also RaceWay stores that they franchise to independent owners that do not offer this same free convenience.
Please share some other fee-free alternatives for ATMs in the comments.
